Director’s Blog- 17th Jan

Rehearsals are well under way for Just Checking!

Director Liz Carruthers rounds up last week:

Very good day today. We came to a grinding halt first thing trying to work out how to get a vital prop onstage without it looking naff. Blythe, John, Sam and I discussed lowering it down from the grid on a piece of fishing line, chucking it on, putting it on rails and sliding it on and various other rubbish options. We then decided to ask our designer – Robin – and he came in and devised a very clever solution in minutes…. I guess that’s why he’s the designer. It’s a great team.

But her secretly ordered world is about to come tumbling down in spectacular fashion.

Presented by innovative new Scottish production company  Datum Point, Just Checking is written by Karen McLachlan (BBC1’s New Tricks and Waterloo Road), directed by Liz Carruthers (The Tobacco Merchant’s Lawyer), designed by Robin Peoples (The Maw Broon Monologues) and features original music from PJ Moore of legendary Glasgow alt-pop band The Blue Nile.
